Success! Madison’s Unakites Focused on STEM

Unakite GroupThis is the final week of Camp Unakite that has served more than 150 students over three weeks.  Elementary Unakite #1 was held the week of June 13 serving 58 students.  This week, there are 52 students and six teachers in Elementary Unakite #2.

Middle Unakite was held the week of June 20 serving 41 children.

In its sixth year, Camp Unakite is a grant-funded STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and  Math) educational opportunity for rising third through fifth grade students.  Held at historic Graves Mountain Lodge, students explore our natural world through STEM.  Activities include:

  • Geospatial Navigation
  • Mineral Understanding
  • Natural Environs
  • Physical Movement
  • Physics
  • Rocketry
  • Soil Investigations
  • Volcanic Eruptions
  • Water Cleanliness
  • Water Movement

The Madison County Education Foundation has supported Camp Unakite since it began in 2011.
