MCPS is Madison Strong for MESA and Fighting Hunger in Madison. The Art teachers at Wetsel Middle School and MCHS are hosting a community fundraising event in order to fight hunger in Madison. Tiffany Kitner at Wetsel and MCHS Art Teacher Ashleigh Pugh have joined the national “Empty Bowls” drive movement. The middle school and high school art teachers have teamed up to make bowls along with their students.
“Empty Bowls” is an annual fundraising event held all over the world. Potters everywhere gather to create hundreds of one of a kind ceramic bowls that are given to persons willing to make a modest contribution to a local charity serving food to the hungry. In Madison, the potters are MCPS students and the charity is MESA. Our Madison Schools family event will help donate money to MESA for those in our community for the holidays.
Please come out to the Wetsel Middle School Cafeteria on November 22 from 5-7pm to purchase a bowl and receive soup and bread. When you come to the cafeteria, all bowls will be on display and priced so you can purchase them. Also, there will be special bowls to make silent bids. Should we run out of bowls to purchase, people can donate $5-$10 to MESA for soup and bread as long as it lasts. We expect that there will be around 130 bowls to purchase and the cost will range from $5 to $45.
We can help fight hunger together in Madison for the holidays!
