This year’s advanced Spanish students in Jenette Reyes’ class not only tackled Spanish vocabulary and grammar, history, and culture, but they also experienced music and dance techniques as they taught each other relevant rhythms, pasos (steps), etc. Students used imagination and technical problem-solving as they learned how to incorporate the green screen, sharing large files, camera positioning, space and time constraints, etc. At any given time, there were 4 or 5 cameras going for three projects (that means more unique angles!). This video summary of their PBL is inspired by the hit song “De pies a cabeza”–Mana and Nicky Jam. Thanks to an MCEF grant, the culmination of this project is a trip to see a professional music and dance show entitled Flamenco and Latin Rhythms in Richmond.
