School Board Announces New Superintendent

The Madison County School Board held a brief meeting on Monday, March 19, to officially name Anna Ruth Graham as Madison County Public Schools Superintendent.    Ms. Graham will begin her service on July 1, 2018.

Ms. Graham is currently Assistant Superintendent of the Buena Vista City Public Schools where she has served the last four years as the division’s instructional leader of 1,040 students in a high school, middle school and two elementary schools.  She has also served as Principal at Parry McCluer High School for eight years. Previously, she was a high school and middle school Assistant Principal in Newport News, VA. She also has been a Social Studies teacher at the high school level.

Her undergraduate degree in History with Secondary Education Certification in Social Studies is from The College of William and Mary as is her Masters of Education in Educational Leadership.  

“We are excited that Anna Graham will be the new leader for the Madison County Public Schools,” said Board chair, Dr. Barry Penn Hollar.   “In our strenuous process of reviewing thirty-one applications and interviewing candidates, Ms. Graham rose to the top demonstrating her commitment, competence, enthusiasm for improving the lives of children in Madison County Public Schools.   We believe she will provide the dynamic leadership we need to lead our school system into a bright future.”

“I am very honored to have been chosen for this position,” said Ms. Graham.  “My family and I are excited to join the Madison County community. I am looking forward to working with the staff and meeting the students and their families. ”
