During the afternoon of Aug. 23, there was a Madison County Public Schools bus accident on Riding Trail Lane. The bus veered off the road, causing a power line to fall. Emergency medical services arrived quickly to check on the condition of the eight students and the driver. No one involved in the accident was injured.

After the accident, some parents came to the scene to pick up their children and others were taken home on another bus. 

MCPS takes this matter seriously and we want to reassure everyone that we’ve done everything necessary to ensure the safety of our staff and students.

We would like to thank the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madison County Volunteer Fire Department, Madison County Rescue Squad, Emergency Management, Virginia State Police and Rappahannock Electric Cooperative for their quick response.
