ASVAB Registration and Testing Information

Good Evening,

Madison County High School will be offering the ASVAB on March 5, 2021. The ASVAB, or Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, is not only used for the armed services to determine placement, but can be used to help students who may be interested in career paths other than the military.

 

WHAT IS THE ASVAB?

-The ASVAB is a free career planning tool for students 16 & older

 

WHY TAKE THE ASVAB?

-Students use their results to explore career interests & different ways to get there (college, certification programs, apprenticeships, military, etc.)

-Students work with counselor and/or career coach to make an action plan

 

HOW DOES IT WORK?

-Online Assessment

-Multiple choice aptitude test & interest inventory

-Identifies skill strengths, used for career exploration

-Self-paced, generally takes 1 ½ hours

-Computer adaptive - test tailored to students ability level. Begin test with item of average difficulty. If the student answers 1st item correctly, presents harder item. If student answers 2 incorrectly, question 3 becomes easier

-If interested in the military, Students can opt in to their scores being released to recruiters
