Guiding the Mountaineer Way
MADISON, Va. - In their first meeting of the 2022-2023 school year, the Madison County High School student-principal cabinet gathered around a table October 19 to begin laying a foundation for months to come.
The cabinet is composed of a select group of students of various grade levels, all tasked with being role models for the high school's four core values: integrity, innovation, inspiration and inclusivity.
During October 19's meeting, the group took aim at "The Mountaineer Way," a document last year's student-principal cabinet created. "The Mountaineer Way" serves as a reference for standards in areas around the school such as classroom behavior and technology use.
Students brainstormed ideas on how to improve the document before it becomes finalized and distributed to all classrooms.
The goal is to ensure every Mountaineer is on the same page when it comes to how student conduct should look. Some of that conduct includes honest and open communication, using technology at appropriate times and encouraging others to speak openly about their ideas.
The cabinet will continue to meet throughout the school year.
