Sharon Johnson grew up in Madison County and graduated from Madison County High School in 1991. Before returning to Madison County Public Schools in 2019, she held the position of school counselor at Ruckersville Elementary in Greene County for 21 years. As a school counselor, Mrs. Johnson supported K-5 students through small group and individual counseling and classroom lessons. She also served as the school’s testing coordinator, child study and 504 Plan coordinator and volunteer coordinator. In addition, she organized an annual Thanksgiving food drive and a yearly gift tree program to support those families in need in the community. 

In 2019, Mrs. Johnson accepted the position of assistant principal at Madison Primary School. She is thrilled to return to work in the community where she was raised. 

Mrs. Johnson earned her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Virginia in 1995 followed by a Master of Education in counseling from the University of Virginia in 1998. She then obtained her post-master’s school leadership and administration endorsement from James Madison University in 2019. 

Mrs. Johnson enjoys spending time with her husband, Dan; her daughters, Leslie and Mia; and her furry family members, Wahoo, Jasper and Luna.
